Contemporary Cottage

With a plot of only 4 metres wide, and a long list of requirements, this family garden was a challenge!

The clients have a young family, a dog, and clean, contemporary taste inside their period terraced cottage.

They were keen to retain a cottage garden feel but combine it with a more modern, pared back style.

Using timber, sandstone and antique brick the garden will fit with the feel of the house and its setting, but the structure and layout will be more contemporary, using vertical as well as horizontal lines to create an architectural, geometric feel.

The planting strip, small tree, vegetable beds and climbing plants will soften the space, and bring an informal mix of colour and movement to the garden.
