Family Garden

For this site the client was rebuilding their 4 bedroom town house in contemporary style, and asked for a garden design to reflect the new architecture.

The brief was to design an exciting but safe place for young children to play. The client needed an outdoor dining area, and was keen to have flowers and vegetables while retaining mature trees. Privacy from neighbours and a screen from the road were also requirements.

From my site survey, I suggested the removal of the existing concrete patios, one of the sheds and that the problem of a large Leylandii hedge be addressed.
I then created concept diagrams to demonstrate areas to be included in the site; the arangement of those areas to allow best flow around the site; and the resulting development of the design.

The final design, achieved by combining the family’s requirements, budget and the conditions of the site,  represents an adventurous yet welcoming garden, with contemporary structural planting  that reflects the bold architecture of the house.
