Contemporary Haven

The owners of this urban back garden were interior designers who were keen to extend their creative style to the exterior of their house. They asked for
  1. A design to provide seclusion and privacy from their city centre surroundings
  2. A tranquil space for them to relax in, and entertain friends.
  3. An area for their children to experiment with growing vegetables.
  4. Planting to provide all year round interest, but where possible, low maintenance.

The seating area at the end of the garden is a place to relax and enjoy the afternoon and evening sun.
Contrasting shapes and textures are used to create a restful, intimate corner.

The stepping stones appear to float across the pond and provde a link with the rest of the garden while  the clean, geometric lines of the pergola are softened by lush planting.
View of the dining area on the raised deck, surrounded by scented soft yet structural planting. This ’outdoor room’ creates a transition area between indoor and outdoor space.
The steps then lead down onto the lawn and into the rest of the garden.
