Front Garden in City Centre

This was a chance to bring a bit of style and colour to a rather shady front garden in a conservation area in North Oxford. We went for a copper, gold and evergreen planting scheme to complement the lovely burnished bark of the mature Acer griseum tree.
The layout of the sandstone slabs and the self binding golden gravel was geometric to go with the shape of the bay windows, so I designed a cast iron gate to match.
Once the plants get going they will be low maintenance, and the new Osmanthus hedge will not only provide its powerful knock out scent in the spring but also an element of privacy from the main road.
